About Us...
The Upper New York Chapter of MFSA is newly forming; just as the Western, North/Central and New York portions
of the Wyoming and Troy Annual Confernces are currently in the proess of merging (to be completed later this year). In this time leading
up to the merger, we are focusing on building cross-conference relationships and supporting progressive initiatives that fulfill MFSA's overall goals...
MFSA works primarily through the ministries of the United Methodist Church, supporting and augmenting peace and justice
ministries at the local, conference, and national levels. As an independent organization, we call our church to expand its
understanding of the radical call of the Gospel to be the inclusive, justice-seeking, risk-taking Body of Christ.
MFSA lives out our belief that to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to be involved in the transformation of the
social order.
MFSA is accountable to its Board of Directors, composed of representatives from our 38 chapters plus additional at-large members to ensure
diversity and breadth of expertise. Supported entirely by annual memberships and contributions, MFSA is not an official United Methodist
body."MFSA has been an independent voice for justice within Methodism since 1907. MFSA unites activists within the United Methodist Church
to work on issues of justice, peace and liberation in the church, nation and world."
